Best Swim Suit for Apple-shaped Bodies

Bombshell Beauty Reader Leslie wrote:

Can you help me? I don't know what kind of bathing suit would be good for my body type. I'm plus sized and shaped like an apple. Or a barrel.. Depending on who you are (my mom says i am shaped like a barrel, my husband and I say I am shaped like an apple).

Apple, barrel, pear...whatever you liken your body shape to, finding a swim suit that you love can be a challenge. In my opinion, the challenge is not necessarily in finding one that flatters your figure, but in finding a suit that makes you feel knock-out amazing.

I don't think it's wise to settle for anything less than that, "Oh yeahhhh..." feeling in a swim suit. For one - why would you ever want to appear in public in anything that makes you feel less than at least a 7 on the Feel Good Scale of 1-10? And secondly, when stripping down to less clothing than usual it's important to feel as confident as possible.

So the hard and fast rule is that you have to try on as many suits as it takes to find THE swimsuit. I prefer to do so with a glass of wine on hand. (But that's just me). Here are a few guidelines to help you decide which suits to start pulling off the racks and into the dressing room.

For an apple shape - round all over with little definition through the waist and hips -look for swimsuits that create the illusion of curves. You can do this with contrasting color or other details through the waist. Or pick a suit with a plunging, detailed neckline. Avoid suits that are boxy, all one color, and feature no figure-enhancing details.

Here are a few ideas to get you pointed in the right direction:

  1. Fantastic swim picks!!
stumbled on your blog! Lovely :)

    Cheers, Jesa

  2. Happy,Happy,Joy,Joy...I'm so thankful to be able to finally know what style the will "suit" me!
I've been frustrated with finding one and this is the perfect post and timing,as it is hotter than Hell here, lol.

  3. Thank you so much! I appreciate it. I really like that turquoise and black one :-)

  4. The turquoise and black one is my favorite too, Leslie. I'm glad you liked the post.
